STATESIDE SWITCHERS
(5) PORTERS SMALL SWITCHER
Between the years 1900 and 1920 the locomotive building firm of H. K. Porter & Co sold a large number of their standard 0−4−0 saddle tanks to purchasers all over the U.S.A. These locomotives were available for 4ft 8½in or 3ft 0in gauges, and the drawings show the minor differences between these two types. Some main-line railroads used them for shunting, but most were employed by industrial operators and contractors.
These drawings, by E. Gebhardt, copyright 1963, are reprinted by special permission of MODEL RAILROADER magazine, Milwaukee, U.S.A.; by courtesy of the Editor, Mr Linn H. Westcott, to whom we extend our grateful thanks.
